Slow Starter (part 1)

For once, my outbound flight time was not in the middle of the night! This meant travelling to my Aunt and Uncle’s house the evening before, after work, and then getting a lift to Heathrow in the morning (the actual morning, like 6:30!). All very exciting. To me anyway... thinking about it it’s not particularly exciting, but oh well.

Packing was an interesting experience due to the possible lack of electricity for maybe days on end. Did I have enough batteries? Who knows: better add more batteries. In the end I probably took too many batteries, and in fact had to spread them out over my bag to avoid (probably imaginary) danger of combustion. 3 camera batteries, 2 power banks, and my beard trimmer (complete with battery) seemed a bit like something you’d strap to the engine of a delorean to time travel when they were all kept together.

The morning of the trip (before my last day of work) I had a thought in the shower: “better check for that thing, I’m pretty sure I’ve put it in but should make sure”. Unfortunately I forgot what thing I was supposed to be checking for, and spent the day at work frustrated about this, especially since I was pretty sure it was in!

I got a lift to the train station after work, and said a cordial goodbye to my dad, along with a tearful goodbye to Misty.

Misty I love youuuuuuu ;_;

The train journey was relatively uneventful. Nobody said they recognised my hat (as with my Madagascar trip). I wasn’t wearing a hat though so that probably explains that one. Even more disappointingly there were no mysterious and arcane songs about scissors (also Madagascar trip), though a man did randomly let out one bark like a dog, which was the only sound I heard him make.

On the train I read some of my China blog, as thanks to their hatred of google I had not actually seen it myself (blogger is owned by google). For some reason I started with the last posts, and came across a photo I didn’t recognise: a “Misty photo of the day”. I guess I must’ve been sent it and slipped it in. But there was another one on the next post... I definitely dont remember doing that twice. It turns out my editor (Vicky, my sister who posted up my blog since I couldn’t do it myself because of the google hating) had snuck them in herself! I was impressed with her duplicity.

Pretty much my review of Vicky.

I had a good shopping experience at kings cross, first with a nice selection of sushi from a place recommended by my colleague Amy (not to be confused the grandmas dog Amy, or the dog who has moved in next door to my grandma, who is also called Amy... work Amy is not pleased at all the dogs with her name), and second when I spotted a little WH Smith’s and went in to buy aspirin to thin my blood for the flight. The very nice man told me they didn’t have it, but there would be some upstairs, but don’t go to the WH Smith’s upstairs, as Boots would be much cheaper. I took his advice and went right past big WH Smith’s, and got some Boots’ own aspirin for 30p. Excellent!

I could only manage a small selection thanks to the giant kebab I had at work, due to (in celebration of?) Ayrton leaving

A photo of dog Amy. Not to be confused with human Amy or dog Amy #2... yes I am padding this post a bit, but dogs are nice ok!

I managed to get a fast tram to Rickmansworth, and my Uncle was waiting to pick me up at the station. I chatted to my aunt and uncle for a while, but it wasn’t too long before I went to bed, as 6:20am is much earlier than my usual start!

Edit: I appear to be having some issue with images. I am trying my best to fix it!

Re-edit: I have managed to fix it! They seem to somehow have made the mobile functionality worse since last time...
